I recently made a trip to Mule Creek State Prison to visit two men there.  After the visits,  A.G. sent this message.

"I just wanted to thank you for showing up!  It was a blessing seeing you, and again thanks for the food (there are food concessions in the visiting rooms in the state prisons).  I enjoyed our conversation.  I felt renewed afterwards.  I believe it is only in Him that I will make it through this period of uncertainty, and quite frankly only He has the power to redeem me and to restore to me so many of the things I have lost.  For the first time I am believing that God will bless me in great ways with things I thought were completely lost to me.  This weekend I realized that my hope has been dim, because of all the disappointment I have experienced, all the dreams that never came true, and I have been keeping myself from hoping because I’m scared of being disappointed.  But that is not the way of faith.  I have been unfair to God and to myself.  I ask that you pray for me, that I would make the Lord the greatest desire of my heart, and that I would let God fill me with the joy and satisfaction that only he can give.  Thank you Chaplain Tom for coming to see me.”
